Caroline’s highly interactive session provides a valuable opportunity for NQTs / RQTs to reflect on their development, audit their strengths, plan their “next steps” and receive invaluable guidance and practical strategies to take their professional practice to a higher level. The Summer Conference provides an amazing opportunity for NQTs/RQTs to mark the approach of the end of the academic year and celebrate their achievements.
The course provides basic information on safeguarding. Delegates will learn how to recognise child abuse more easily, know who to pass any concerns on to and what further action may be taken by other agencies.
KS1 & KS2 Computing An overview of planning and activities that will enable teachers to consider how they will meet the computing curriculum in KS1. These approaches will include discussion of how non-digital or ‘unplugged’ methods will allow children to develop computational thinking.

Children’s Literature and the Importance of Reading for Pleasure This course will be based on reading and findings with regards to best practice for sharing children’s books in the classroom. There is increasing evidence to show that teacher subject knowledge about children’s books is key to the raising of standards, and so the session looks to promote an ethos of support and sharing of great children’s literature throughout the school whilst also supporting teachers with the skills to ask rich, engaging questions and foster positive booktalk in their schools.
Thinking, Doing, Talking Science The Bright Ideas Time is one of the strategies used within the Thinking, Doing, Talking Science project. It is a dedicated discussion slot within primary science lessons and Helen Wilson, Principal Lecturer in Science Education at Oxford Brookes University, will share a range of ideas to prompt pupils’ talking in order to encourage their Higher Order Thinking. The session will be interactive and practical and will include ways of encouraging the pupils to focus their recording on the learning objectives so that it releases time for the talking and doing whilst at the same time producing work that can be sharply assessed.
This school-orientated programme will consist of 3 face to face sessions and a final action research presentation session, which will focus on developing the skills of Middle Leaders to build capacity by leading for improvement within your school. It is suitable for current and aspiring Middle Leaders, including Subject Leaders; Team Leaders and other Staff Leaders. It will be rooted in your needs so that you can gain an understanding of what, as a leader, you should be doing and sharing. Part of the programme involves you doing a small scale action research project that will benefit you and the school. The other 2 training dates are Thursday 7th March 2019 and Thursday 13th June 2019. There will also be a final follow up session in December 2019 (date to be advised).
| Problem Solving and Reasoning in Key Stages 1 and 2 Mathematics This session has been designed to help teachers develop their strategies when approaching two of the three aims of the National Curriculum for Maths. It aims to increase understanding of effective practice in teaching problem solving and reasoning, while facilitating and supporting cross-school practical lesson study projects, with a clear focus on improving pupil learning and engagement. This course will equip you to confidently plan and teach inspirational mathematics lessons that result in engagement of all pupils in meaningful learning activities and support the aims of the National Curriculum. |
