Greater depth in writing is proving difficult to moderate and secure consistent judgements and therefore needs careful consideration. This course will advance your understanding of:  The meaning of greater depth in the context of writing.  The ‘concept’ of greater depth and the ‘label’ as used in the current inter-im frameworks for teacher assessment.  Questions and activities that promote greater depth in writing. The four ‘corners’ of greater depth in writing. Take away from the course: Strategies to improve pupils’ outcomes in:  Understanding the purpose of writing, including varying levels of formality.  Organisation of writing  Writing with precision and clarity using the full range of spelling, punctua-tion and grammar taught.  Producing Imaginative and engaging writing that interweaves dialogue, settings, characters and plots.
