The Downland Alliance comprises a number of Primary and Secondary schools from across West Berkshire working together in partnership to deliver high quality teacher training and outstanding continuous professional development (CPD) to support and develop teachers whatever the stage of their career – from Early Career Teachers to those in Senior Leadership roles.

Our core purpose is to collaborate to improve and develop professional teaching practice – raising the achievement of pupils in the local area.

Our vision is one in which

  • We work together, in an atmosphere of trust and honesty, to support and challenge to deliver the highest quality teacher training and professional development opportunities.
  • Joint practice development is integral to all teachers, The principle which underpins our work is to capture best practice and share it – always with a focus on impact and on what will make the most difference to the success and opportunities for all pupils in the partnership schools.
  • Our continuing professional development (CPD) and training for all staff – from our teacher training through to the development of new Senior Leaders and existing Head Teachers, and including support staff, is of the highest quality, meets emerging priorities and career development needs and is focused on pupil outcomes.

We are a member of the Teaching School Hub Berkshire (TSH Berkshire).
